Discovery Science Center
2500 North Main Street Santa Ana, CA 92705 Phone: (714) 542-2823 The HOV Trekker crew decided to take advantage of Bank of America's free museum admission program to explore the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, just off the I-5 freeway at Main Street Exit. We arrived at the Discovery Science Center around 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011. The parking fee was $4 per vehicle and we found a parking space in the parking lot near the building. We walked in and showed our Bank of America debit cards and driver's licenses. The cashier checked us in and we were off to explore. The Discovery Science Center had special exhibit called "Bug Invasion" on the first floor. There were giant Bug models for kids to see. Baby HOV Trekker was mesmerized by praying mantis exhibit as she went back to it time after time. On the second floor, there were many hands-on exhibits where kids can learn about science surrounding the game of hockey and exhibits on recycling and space exploration. Unfortunately, they were too advanced for Baby HOV Trekker. The Discovery Science Center also has interactive outdoor dinosaur exhibits where kids can go on a scientific mission to learn about the dinosaurs. The Discovery Science Center has many interesting and educational exhibits. However, Baby HOV Trekker, at 2 ½ years old, was not old enough to understand most of the exhibits. The best part of her day was going on the stage on the first floor and dancing to the music playing on the P.A. system. The Discovery Science Center would be a great place for older toddlers and school aged children to explore and learn about many aspect of science. But at the regular admission fees of $17.95 ($12.95 online) for adults and $12.95 for children aged 3 and up, it would have been a bit pricy expedition for the HOV Trekker crew, even with the Baby HOV Trekker getting in free. Fortunately, for us, Bank of America picked up the price of admission for this trip. I think Baby HOV Trekker would have loved the exhibits if she was a little older so we will go back to the Discovery Science Center in about 2-3 years when Baby HOV Trekker can enjoy the exhibits little more.
