Issue: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("Stimulus" Package)

Before: Prior to its passage, she opposed the content and the size of the Stimulus Package and the manner of its passage. She called the legislation as the bailout for big government and it would place burden on the next generation. During her campaign for the Republican nomination for President, she uses the issue to build support within the Republican Party.

After: In six separate letters to Ray LaHood, the Secretary of Transportation, dated September 15, 2009, she made requests for Stimulus funding for projects in her Congressional district, including $300 million for a new bridge.
