CONSUMER BEWARE
Is Oil Change Every 3,000 Miles Necessary?
The oil change companies have been advertising the need for oil changes at every 3,000 miles, but is it necessary?

California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery launched the Check Your Number campaign to educate drivers to follow manufacturers' recommendations. Improvements in engine oils and engines lengthened the required oil change intervals to 7,500 to 10,000 for most vehicles. Waiting for the miles to reach the manufacturers' recommendations will save money during the difficult economic times and protect the environment from wasted oil.

Visit Check Your Number website to look up the suggested oil change interval for your vehicles.

Where Are the Sex Offenders Living?
In California, convicted sex offenders are required to register with their local law enforcement agencies. The State of California operates a website for public to check the sex offender registry to find out if any of them are living in their neighborhood. Some are listed by their addresses and by zip codes. Some of the registered sex offenders' whereabout are only known to the law enforcement agencies. Also, beware that not all sex offenders are registered in violation of their convictions.
